In an era where convenience is king, Amazon has changed the way we shop. It's now the go-to store for everything from toothbrushes to TVs, gardening tools to gadgets – and that's no different when Black Friday comes around, this year on the 23rd November.

The online retail Goliath uses the annual occasion to thrust its own Echo and Fire devices into the spotlight, traditionally slashing prices of both its individual products and bundles. Now with more Amazon devices than ever before, 2018 could be its most important Black Friday year yet.

As expected, Amazon has already kicked off its Black Friday sale (it runs until the 25th November), offering discounts across its devices, as well as the likes of 4K TVs, wireless headphones and Blu-ray players...

Sennheiser Momentum M2 IEi

  • In-line mic and three-button remote
  • Wonderfully clear and detailed sound

Winner of our 2017 Product of the Year Award, these wired in-ears continue the success of Sennheiser's Momentum range with a comfortable fit, attractive design and a wonderfully clear and detailed performance.

The icing on the cake is a current 25 per cent discount off the original price.

Bowers & Wilkins P5 Wireless

  • Excellent sound
  • Lovely design and build

B&W's first pair of Bluetooth headphones remain among our favourites. Like their wired siblings, they offer a rousing listen with good detail, taut bass and wide dynamic reach - just with the added convenience of wireless connectivity and a 17-hour battery life.

What’s not to like about the B&W P5 Wireless? Not much, from what we can see and hear.

Sony WF-1000X

  • True wireless buds
  • Nine-hour battery life
  • Charging case

True wireless buds (without cables between the earpieces) are on the rise, and these Sonys are not only our favourites, but the only ones we can really get behind.

The 2018 Award winners offer a performance that's balanced, detailed and rhythmic. Noise-cancellation and app smarts help too – as does a recent price drop.

Sony MDR-ZX770BN

  • Effective noise-cancelling
  • aptX Bluetooth
  • 13-hour battery life

Bluetooth and noise-cancelling are the headline features of these budget headphones, and both are impressive for the money.

They’re supremely comfortable too, snug and secure, with head-hugging cups soft enough to create a seal around your ears while remaining comfortable for long periods of listening.

They lack a little punch and excitement. But good detail, a cleanly smoothness and an expansive soundstage make for a decent listen.

At £62.50 – less than our review price of £100 – these are certainly tempting.

  • Noise-cancelling
  • Clear, punchy and musical sound

Former Award winners in our noise-cancelling headphone category, these entertaining on-ears remain one of the most desirable of their kind.

We can only praise their clear, punchy and musical sound, and the range of features. Flick the noise-cancellation switch on the left earcup and office hum and train noise disappears to give you a real sense of seclusion. They promise an impressive 30 hours of battery life in active noise-cancelling mode, too.

Urbanista Seattle Wireless

  • Smooth, engaging sound
  • 12-hour battery life

It’s not the sort of name to fill audiophiles with confidence, but the Urbanista Seattles are among the best-sounding wireless headphones under £100.

They have all the bass boost expected of a street headphone, but also an alluring smoothness and width worth listening to. Should the battery run out, there's a 3.5mm socket on the left cup for wired listening.

Libratone Q Adapt In-Ear

  • Deep, punchy bass
  • Comfortable fit
  • Decent noise-cancelling

When Apple ditched the headphone jack on its iPhones, some manufacturers took the opportunity to push their wireless models, while others opted to build headphones with Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector instead.

Libratone is one of the latter, and these Apple-friendly, noise-cancelling in-ears are comfortable and enjoyable – and now over £50 off at Amazon.

Epson EB-W05 LCD projector £360 £250 We haven’t tested this particular model, but in our experience Epson projectors are reliably impressive. Its 1280 x 800 resolution shouldn’t have trouble with playback of DVDs and Blu-rays, while the above-par 3,300-lumen brightness makes it suitable for well-lit light rooms as well as darker environments. View Deal

Sony UBP-X800

  • Great detail
  • Superb sound quality
  • Vibrant colours

If you’re in the market for a quality 4K HDR Blu-ray player, this first effort from Sony is one we’d recommend. Like its Award-winning UBP-X700 sibling, it is simple to use, sounds great and has a crisp, detailed and colourful image.

Most crucially perhaps, it's now available for £260 – that's £140 less than the price at which we gave it a five-star review.

Hi-fi deals

Ultimate Ears Megaboom £129 £99 It’s the original model as opposed to the most current Megaboom 3, but if you can go without the third-gen’s slightly improved (bassier) sound, dustproof and waterproof design, and slightly more sophisticated aesthetic and functionality, you’ll never rue the day you saved £70 by buying this discounted Megaboom over the Megaboom 3 (£170).View Deal

Denon D-M41DAB

  • What Hi-Fi? Awards 2018 winner
  • Bluetooth/CD player/radio

The D-M41DAB is proof that great pound-for-pound hi-fi sound need not always mean several separate components.

With Bluetooth, a CD player, DAB radio and analogue and digital optical inputs for playing music from an external source, this microsystem is a well-spec'd beast.

Paired with some decent speakers, it sounds great, too.
