Amazon's annual Prime Day sale is now underway in Australia, and this year runs for an epic 7 days, from Tuesday, 8 July through to 11:59pm on Monday, 14 July.
Arguably second in popularity and competitive pricing to Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Prime Day is typically held every July and offers crazy, often year-best discounts on everything from giant TVs to diminutive earbuds, including many What Hi-Fi? Award winners and five-star products.
The best offers are exclusively available to Amazon Prime members, so it's handy that the retailer offers a free 30-day Prime trial for new subscribers.
Amazon now often holds a second Prime sale in October, but as yet we don't have confirmation that this will reappear in 2025.
During the event, the What Hi-Fi? team curates the best deals on the best products to save you from trawling the retail site's endless offers.
All of the recommendations are approved by us – the products featured have either been tested by our expert reviews team or are closely related to a product they have tested (a 55-inch TV, when we've only reviewed the 65-inch version, say).
Every entry on our list is also thoroughly price-checked, with the product's recent price history factored in, to ensure you are actually getting a good deal.
The deals are officially live, so let's explore the AV and tech highlights from Prime Day 2025 in Australia...

Best headphones deals
These true wireless buds are a bargain at their full price, so picking a pair up for 33% off is something of a no-brainer if you want good sound but are on a super tight budget. These are one of the cheapest sets of earbuds we're comfortable recommending.
As the winner of a What Hi-Fi? 2024 Award, it's incredibly easy to recommend the WF-C510: they're compact, comfortable, IPX4 water resistant, and serve up a delightful, balanced sound – punching well about their sub-AU$100 price tag. Their one shortcoming is that they don't offer active noise cancelling, but given they have decent passive noise isolation (like most rubber-tip equipped in-ears) that shouldn't be an issue for most people.
If you can afford the extra and want noise-cancelling, these model-up Sonys on the WF-C500 above are a fantastic pick, earning 5 stars in our 2024 WF-C700N review. These deliver sensational sound quality and offer 7.5 hours of battery life per charge, multipoint Bluetooth and IPX4 water resistance, plus ANC. Also available in black.
Sony's LinkBuds S are its alternative flagship wireless in-ears, and they're both smaller and lighter than their WF-1000XM5 counterparts, so they're more comfortable to wear, particularly for long periods. As we noted in our 4-star LinkBuds S review, they're still water resistant and offer both good audio quality and noise-reduction. They're also currently hugely cheaper than the XM5s via this Amazon deal, which knocks an impressive 55% off the RRP. Only available in black with this discount.
If you're looking for the most affordable pair of AirPods, this 4th generation set is a neat 24% off for Prime Day. Note that these aren't the enhanced version that adds active noise cancellation. Those are also discounted on Amazon at a smaller 16% off, taking them from AU$299 to AU$251.
If you're an Apple user, the AirPods Pro 2 makes a lot of sense. Serving up a comfortable fit, great sound and decent noise-cancellation, not to mention seamless connectivity. There's plenty that will appeal besides the generous discount, which has dropped another AU$15 since Prime Day 2025 started.
This massive discount on the Sennheiser IE 600 brings them to a new all-time low Australian price, making them a great option for anyone wanting to invest in a quality set of wired in-ear monitors. If you listen to music via a PC or smartphone with an external DAC, then these will unearth plenty of detail, and are highly capable of reproducing all the frequency ranges with gusto.
If your budget can't stretch to a pair of Sony XM5 or XM4 headphones, this more affordable option makes sensible compromises to significantly lower the price, which is even better for Prime Day 2025. The WH-CH720N are our favourite Bluetooth over-ears at this price, with fantastic sound and noise cancellation. The blue colourway is the cheapest at AU$148, while black is a couple of dollars more at AU$149.95.
If you're finding yourself a bit baffled by Bose's huge range of QuietComfort headphones, we don't blame you. This SC variant gets you the audio brand's current (and well-regarded) mainstream noise-cancelling over-ears with a soft carry case – thus the 'SC' – rather than the hard case the regular version comes with. The cans themselves are identical. We haven't reviewed this pair but they are a modest update on the four-star QuietComfort 45, which we praised for superb noise-cancelling and, OK battery life and decent sound.
The price on this impressive set of over-ears from Shure has dropped a further AU$47 dollars since Prime Day started, meaning they significantly undercut deals from Bose, Sony and Sennheiser. That makes the Shure Aonic 40 very easy to recommend. They boast more advanced noise cancellation than the Aonic 50, and 25 hours of battery life. You're also able to fine-tune the sound output thanks to a customisable equaliser. This discount is for the white model; the black colourway is discounted, but only down to AU$249.
Sennheiser's delivered something special with the HD 620S, which offer the expansive and spacious acoustics of open-back headphones in a closed-back design. This audiophile-grade pair of over-ears earned 4 stars in our Sennheiser HD 620S review, where we praised their "detailed and smooth sound". With a massive 58% off their Aussie RRP, we have no reservations recommending them to those who enjoy open-back sound.
The fourth outing of Sennheiser's Momentum Wireless range of over-ears is nothing short of spectacular. They deliver effective ANC, coupled with a clean and musical sound, which you'll be able to listen to for an incredible 60 hours... far more than their closest competitors elsewhere on this page. This price is a new all-time low, and frankly an amazing bargain for a set of cans that can go head-to-head with Sony and Bose. Also available in graphite for AU$270, as well as black and white for AU$272.
They may now have two successors in Sony XM5 and XM6, we still rate the Sony XM4 incredibly highly, especially now they're regularly discounted. Although these were slightly cheaper on Amazon for Boxing Day 2024 (priced at AU$324), this deal's still great value. The XM4s deliver a thoroughly detailed performance alongside a confident low-end. They're also especially comfortable and fold away neatly for easy travel.
Bose continues its class-leading noise-cancellation legacy with the QuietComfort Ultra headphones and backs that up with exceptional sound quality. We personally weren't too convinced by the new Immersive Audio mode, but the fact it doesn't discriminate against source or streaming service means there is still plenty of appeal. Now discounted in Black, White, Diamond and Blue.
While Sony's brand-new XM6 over-ears landed a few months ago, their predecessors are still an excellent Award-winning set. As we noted in our WH-1000XM5 review, "If you are looking for a new pair of wireless noise-cancelling headphones, your auditioning should start here." Packed with incredible sound quality, great noise-cancelling and a superb range of features. Note that this deal is for the soft-case version, while the full-price model comes with a hard case that's a bit bigger but arguably offers better protection.
Best Bluetooth speaker deals
Already pretty affordable, and now even more so thanks to this 42% discount on the JBL Clip 4 – which sees it becoming an even more appealing option for anyone looking for an ultra-portable Bluetooth speaker who size of sound belies its small form factor. It's fully waterproof and a built-in carabiner clip means you can attach it to almost anything. Want the newer model? The JBL Clip 5 is down to AU$67 (from AU$89.95).
With top-notch sound and a durable waterproof build designed to withstand life's mishaps and challenges, the JBL Flip 6 is a sturdy, reliable bit of kit for enjoying tunes on the go. While its newer Flip 7 sibling does offer some improvements, this deal more than makes up for the price difference; the Flip 7 carries an RRP of AU$179.95, and despite its age, this older model still thoroughly impresses. Five stars
While it's technically been superseded by the newer Charge 6, we still love the Charge 5's combination of ruggedness, portability, easy-to-use features and overall punchy, detailed and engaging sound, not to mention how good-value it is. For this money, the Award-winning Charge 5 still one of the top portable Bluetooth speakers you can buy. Highly recommend.
If you like UE's way of doing Bluetooth speakers the Boom 3 is a fine choice for a medium-sized model. It's tough and rugged, and fully waterproof. You can also link up multiple Boom 3s to create a full daisy chain of speakers. Three colours are discounted for Prime Day, with blue being the cheapest, but you can also nab black or purple for around the same AU$130 mark.
If you don't need a tough, rugged exterior, this second-generation Bose SoundLink Flex, which launched in late 2024, is a good choice. While the exterior is quite sleek compared to the UE and JBL counterparts, It's still waterproof and delivers sound with a clear and detailed midrange. It's also perfectly portable, but it's perhaps best suited to being taken outside to the pool, rather than on a full hiking trip. All six colours are available for the deal price here.
Best home cinema deals
It's been a little cheaper in some previous sales (it was AU$59 for Boxing Day 2024, for example), but with an impressive spec list, full range of Australian streaming apps, and an easy-to-navigate interface – particularly when using the bundled Alexa remote – the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max offers plug-and-play streaming at a very nice price.
The Fire TV Stick 4K is down 40% to AU$59, too, while the entry-level Fire TV Stick HD is reduced to AU$49, or 29% off.
If you're dissatisfied with the performance of your smart TV's native interface, Amazon's Fire TV Cube is the brand's top streaming device, offering lightning-fast app loading thanks to its octa-core processor – which is 2x more powerful than its Fire TV Stick 4K Max sibling (above). You can stream more than 350K movies and TV shows, with access to all of your favourite streamers and free-to-air catch-up apps, and there's a speaker so you can use it for audio even when your TV is turned off. The Fire TV Cube is basically as feature-packed as streaming devices can get.
Anker's pint-sized Nebula Capsule projectors are a favourite among both reviewers and users. The Capsule 3 is limited in brightness and we found it a bit expensive, but this discount certainly helps the latter. It's very user-friendly and runs Google TV for the OS, meaning there's wide support for streaming platforms via their official apps. This deal knocks a tidy 50% off the usual price.
We awarded the Ambeo Plus a full five stars, praising it for delivering its "astonishing ability to fill a room with sound" and the fact it can handle Atmos soundtracks well. It's impeccably built, too, and offers a broad range of features. We would've loved if its two HDMI inputs were of the 2.1 variety, but as producer of sound first and foremost, it's tricky to fault.
We were a little disappointed Sennheiser's smallest soundbar didn't quite live up to the benchmark set by its larger Plus and Max siblings, but at this price, it presents itself as much greater value. Interestingly, it's Sennheiser's direct website that has the cheapest price right now. It can be picked up for AU$750 at Amazon, but we'd be foolish not to mention the best price.
Best smart speakers & display deals
While this deal is shy of the Echo Pop's all time low of AU$29 (back at Black Friday last year), this is still a respectable discount if you're looking to try out a smart speaker without forking out too much. As the cheaper, more colourful alternative to the Echo Dot, the Pop is built for smaller rooms, and has Alexa onboard for all the usual smart home tricks.
The 5th-generation Echo Dot is a great smart speaker with impressive connectivity and streaming capabilities, and considering the size of its driver, its sound output is surprisingly robust. At this AU$40 discount, it definitely delivers excellent bang for buck. This black colourway offers the biggest discount, but it's also available in blue and white for AU$5 more.
Want all the Alexa smart speaker features with the added bonus of a video screen? Of course you do. The latest Echo Show 5 is a five-star Echo speaker with a display, and is now reduced by a healthy AU$50.
Best hi-fi deals
This Sony turntable is as fuss-free as they come concerning setup and getting your favourite vinyl records spinning. Whether you're playing via wired or wireless speakers, it delivers a delightfully musical sound that will satisfy vinyl beginners or those looking for a more hands-off approach. It has Bluetooth so can stream vinyl to your wireless speakers too. It's been slightly cheaper on Amazon previously (it was AU$295 in March, for example) but this is still a worthwhile deal for a quality deck.
We haven't reviewed this particular speaker from Audioengine, but we did give their A2 predecessor a 4-star review. The main difference with this newer A2+ version is the addition of Bluetooth, opening them up to the world of streaming (the previous model accepted physical source components, only). They're certainly affordable and could work wonders in a smaller room or as part of your first hi-fi setup.
Exhibiting a similarly gorgeous design to their LS50 Meta cousins, the LSX II speaker system benefits from the esteemed brand’s Uni-Q driver that creates “a stereo image that’s like a bubble of sound”, as we said in our KEF LSX II review. All of the main wireless connectivity options are supported, along with a few physical connections and high-resolution audio. This deal gets you a pair for 26% off. Also available in black and bronze colourways.
A 2023 What Hi-Fi? Award winner for good reason, the WiiM Pro Plus is an incredibly talented streamer that support virtually any source you can think of, be it a music or internet radio service, or music stored on a server thanks to DLNA compatibility. Analogue inputs mean you can stream from your turntable or CD player too, and the sound it serves up is exceptional for the money.
Anyone looking for a budget streaming app should have the WiiM Amp on their list. It's incredibly simple to use, is well-built and it's capable of delivering a lively, enjoyable sound. It is limited in its physical connections, but otherwise there isn't a lot that comes close at this price. The space grey colourway is the cheapest, but you can also nab it in silver for AU$399.20.
Prime Day FAQ
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon's take on Black Friday. It began in 2015 as a celebration of the retail giant's 20th anniversary. While other online retailers get involved in the Black Friday bargain bun fight, Prime Day is generally all about Amazon, though you might see other retailers lowering prices at the same time in order to jump on the sales frenzy bandwagon and stay competitive during that period.
Prime Day is a big sale that encompasses most areas of the Amazon site – as well as audiovisual gear, you'll find discounts on toasters, books, clothes, and pretty much anything that Amazon sells. And that's a lot!
You'll need to be a Prime member to take advantage of the best offers. Not yet a member? Amazon’s free 30-day Prime trial gives you the option to sign up, bag a few bargains during the sale, and cancel your membership without paying a cent. Go you.
Prime Day 2025 dates: when is Prime Day in Australia?
Prime Day has gotten longer and longer over recent years, so it isn't surprising that last year's Prime Day in July was the longest-ever Prime Day in Australia. It started on Tuesday 16th July and ran through to 21st July.
Deals from Germany, Japan, the UK and the US were also available to Australian shoppers through the Amazon Global Store, meaning Aussie Prime members could take advantage of many more hours of deals.
The October version of the event – officially 'Prime Big Deal Days' but also known as 'Prime Day 2' – is now a mainstay in the Prime calendar, too. Last year it kicked off on 8th October and ran through to 13th October.
Prime Day 2025 dates haven't yet been confirmed – and likely won't be for a month or two yet. We'd bank on a mid-July period, likely at the start of a week, for the usual winter event.
Rumours are already flying that the event, which is typically only two days in the UK and US, could even be extended to four days this year, so we may even see an extended – week-long? – event in Australia this year.
What Prime Day 2025 deals can I expect?
OLED TVs, JBL Bluetooth speakers, Sony wireless earbuds and Bose headphones, Alexa and Echo devices, Apple AirPods... you get the picture. Some of the most popular products in the consumer electronics space are pretty much guaranteed to be on offer at Amazon during Prime Day.
Big-sellers over recent Amazon Prime Day have included the Sonos Beam and Arc soundbars, Sony WH-1000XM5 and older WH-1000XM4 noise-cancelling headphones, Amazon Echo Show smart speakers and Fire TV video streamers, Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones, LG, Philips and Sony OLED TVs, and plenty more five-star products across the audio and AV space.
Sonos, Sennheiser, Sony and Bose products – particularly headphones – all come up regularly in Prime Day sales, so if you have your eye on something from one of the bigger brands, there's a good chance some money will be lopped off it.
For Prime Day 2025, we will look out for deals on last year's LG C4 OLED TV and any other lingering 2024 OLED TVs from LG, Sony and Samsung, perhaps even a lowest-ever price on Sony's excellent WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds and WH-1000XM5 headphones, and the best soundbars from the likes of Sonos and Samsung.
You never know, perhaps even a rare discount on Apple products (likely not brand-new ones) such as the iPhone 16, HomePod 2 and AirPods Max could show.
What about hi-fi? Unfortunately, Prime Day tends to spotlight more mass-market product categories such as TVs, soundbars and Bluetooth speakers for deals, meaning that discounts on hi-fi gear are far and few between.
While some other retailers drop their prices to piggyback the Amazon Prime events, Black Friday remains the best time of the year to buy hi-fi at discounted prices due to many specialist hi-fi retailers getting on board the more encompassing sale.
How much does Amazon Prime cost in 2025?
First things first: to be eligible for Prime Day discounts, you need Amazon Prime. This is effectively a membership fee that gives you free standard international delivery on select orders over AU$49 or free expedited delivery (in select areas) on eligible items bought from Amazon, as well as access to the Prime Video and Amazon Music streaming services (but not Amazon Music Unlimited – that costs extra), free ebooks, and the ability to share some of these benefits with others in your household.
Amazon Prime costs AU$9.99 a month, or AU$79 if you pay yearly (saving you AU$40 compared to paying monthly). Changed your mind? You can cancel your Prime membership on the Manage Prime Membership page.
And if you haven't placed a Prime-eligible order or used any of your Prime benefits within your membership, you'll be refunded in full.
There's an Amazon Prime free trial, too. Sign up, select 'Start my free trial', and you'll have access to Prime for 30 days with nothing to pay.
That means you can sign up, take advantage of the deals, and then cancel your trial before the 30 days end and not be charged your second month's fee for Prime. Not that we would condone such behaviour, of course!
To be eligible for the trial, you can't have subscribed to Prime in the last 12 months.
Prime Day 2025 shopping tips
1. Sign up for the free Prime trial
If you're new to Amazon Prime, make sure you take advantage of the 30-day free Prime trial. And remember to cancel if you don't want a monthly bill for AU$9.99 when the trial ends.
2. Google a product before buying
Not every Prime Day 2025 deal is going to be a winner, so make sure you compare prices online before you buy, and, of course, check reviews to make sure the product is worth buying at all!
We at What Hi-Fi? work tirelessly to call out the best deals on the consumer electronics categories we cover – our job, after all, is to point customers towards the best products on the market – so if we haven't included one in our deals coverage, there's usually a good reason for it!
3. Big brands can equal big savings
Amazon often slashes the cost of a few big-brand items – think Playstation and Xbox accessories, Samsung TVs and tablets, etc – to get the attention of shoppers. Keep an eye out for these 'marquee' deals.
4. Check the Amazon Warehouse
Returned goods end up on sale at the Amazon Warehouse at a decent discount, so there's a chance you could spot an open-box bargain that beats the box-fresh Prime Day price.
5. Stay tuned to whathifi.com
Amazon unleashes thousands of deals around Prime Day, which can make it tricky to find genuine bargains on five-star tech and AV. That's why we'll be publishing an up-to-the-minute list of the very best Prime Day 2025 deals.
