I've tested dozens of headphones – these are the 6 best Prime Day headphones deals I recommend for under £150

Over-ear headphones: Sony WH-CH720N

This Prime Day is the perfect time to find your latest pair of wireless headphones or wireless earbuds. Prices are dropping faster than Scotland's World Cup chances, and good deals are becoming great ones thanks to ever-plummeting RRPs. There's no time like the present to snap up a bargain.

This Prime Day has seen major discounts on a massive variety of headphones, but we're limiting this rundown to those which fall under £150. Times are tough right not, so the products we've listed below, be they in-ear or over-ear, are all designed to elicit maximum satisfaction from the lowest cost possible. Nice.

Wireless earbuds

Best mid-price: Bowers & Wilkins Pi6

Bowers & Wilkins Pi6
Save £89
Bowers & Wilkins Pi6: was £219 now £130 at Amazon

The B&W Pi6 started life at £219, edging them into the premium wireless earbuds category, but since they've tumbled to £130, we can pretty reasonably call this a mid-range option. That price changes the dynamic completely, as while the Pi6 were up against immense competition at £219, a far lower price tag makes them far more appealing. Lowest price on Forest Green finish

Best noise-cancelling: Sony WF-C710N

Sony WF-C710N

Save £34
Sony WF-C710N : was £99 now £65 at Amazon

An outstanding pair of affordable noise-cancelling buds, the Sony WF-C710N are the best in class at their particular price point. £65 is a no-brainer for a pair of buds that will delight and dazzle in equal measure, though we'd be tempted to fork out an extra £10 and get them in that awesome 'Glass Blue' colourway. Translucent buds? So rad.

Best entry-level: Sony WF-C510

Sony WF-C510
What Hi-Fi? Awards winners
Save £16
Sony WF-C510: was £55 now £39 at Amazon

The best wireless budget earbuds out there, the WF-C510 feature 22 hours of battery life, IPX4 splash resistance, Bluetooth 5.3 and an Ambient Aware mode, all while setting the benchmark for sound quality at this price. A great choice if your budget doesn't stretch too far but quality remains a priority.

Over-ear headphones

Best entry-level: Sony WH-CH520

Sony WH-CH520
Five stars
Save £15
Sony WH-CH520: was £45 now £30 at Amazon

This deal is the definition of 'low-risk, high reward'. You're only spending £30 in the first place, so the initial outlay is hardly mammoth, and given the run that Sony is on at the moment with its wireless over-ears, you know you're getting seriously quality with the Sony WH-CH520. Superb value cans.

Best budget noise-cancelling: Sony WH-CH720N

Sony WH-CH720N
What Hi-Fi? Awards winner
Save £40
Sony WH-CH720N: was £99 now £59 at Amazon

For sheer value, not much comes close to the noise-cancelling Sony WH-CH720N. They're dependably made, enthusiastic-sounding headphones that offer outstanding musicality, great ANC and a strong feature set to the mid-to-low price bracket of the wireless headphone market. We think they're awesome.

Best budget wired: Røde NTH-100

Røde NTH-100

Røde NTH-100: was £149 now £115 at Amazon

Be as critical or as casual in your listening as you like, the Røde NTH-100 will put you fully in the picture with their highly revealing sound. If you want budget closed-back over-ears, these are outstanding value even at their original price, but with this drop, they're a steal.
