Samsung AU's Black Friday sale has up to AU$2,700 off five-star and award-winning TVs
Five-star screens like the QN900F and S90F are going cheap
If you’ve been mulling a living room TV upgrade, then the current Black Friday sales in Australia are one of the best times to do so, as you’ll find you can pick up a top-rated screen for a lot, lot less.
And, while it might seem logical to head directly to a third-party retailer for the best prices, what you’ll often find is that manufacturers can have deals that are too good to pass up. As a case in point, Samsung has slashed the prices on many five-star TVs – including some previous What Hi-Fi? Award-winning screens – with up to AU$2,700 in savings to be had on the brand's official Australian store. Plus, if you shop via the Samsung Shop app, you can save an additional 5% on already discounted TVs.
You can view the full selection of Samsung Black Friday TV deals at the retailer’s website, but to save you a bit of time, we've got three specific expert-approved recommendations below. Do note the prices we've listed below do not factor-in the optional, additional 5% saving that's available when purchasing via the Samsung Shop app.
An Award winner from 2024, the Samsung QN800D is a spectacular 8K TV that demands to be seen. Using a combination of a Mini LED backlight and a Neo Quantum 8K AI Gen 3 processor, we said this TV delivered “the most detailed, sharp-looking pictures we’ve seen” when we reviewed it last year. While it's technically been replaced by a newer model, this screen is still one very capable performer, particularly with this discount.
Despite the name, this 8K model isn’t the direct replacement of the QN800D above, instead sitting below the QN990F. Still, this model gets Samsung’s anti-glare display for improved viewing even in bright conditions and a brighter picture overall, resulting in superb images with regard to colours and black levels. Plus, considering what you’re getting, in 85-inch guise, we’d say this is a bit of a bargain.
We rate the five-star S90F as one of the best Samsung TVs you can buy, although admittedly that's specifically in its 48-inch guise. For Black Friday however, Samsung has significantly discounted the 55-inch model, bringing it down to below the price of the smaller 48-inch. A bigger TV for less? Count us in. The S90F delivers a bright, punchy picture, offers excellent app support and boasts impressive gaming specs. A fine TV if we do say so.
Our review called this 2025 model “Samsung’s best-ever OLED”. It’s a deeply impressive TV that’s capable of producing awesome brightness and colours, but it’s also got an excellent Filmmaker Mode that combines those abilities with cinematic subtlety and restraint.
Samsung Australia is a What Hi-Fi? preferred partner (What does that mean?)
Max is a staff writer for What Hi-Fi?'s sister site, TechRadar, in Australia. But being the wonderful English guy he is, he helps out with content across a number of Future sites, including What Hi-Fi?. It wouldn't be his first exposure to the world of all things hi-fi and home cinema, as his first role in technology journalism was with What Hi-Fi? in the UK. Clearly he pined to return after making the move to Australia and the team have welcomed him back with arms wide open.
