Italian Grand Prix 2025: preview

The Scuderia are coming of a double-DNF, after Leclerc was taken out by Kimi Antonelli. Unlike his teammate, however, the Monegasque is still showing flickers, pulling off one of the overtakes of the season before his unfortunate demise.

Speaking of bad fortune, an oil leak denied Lando Norris what looked a certain 2nd-place finish behind Oscar Piastri last Sunday, extending the Australian's championship lead to 34 points with nine races to go. Credit to Norris, he appears to have taken the setback as well as can be expected. The size of the deficit means that pressure is off, and he can drive as if he has nothing to lose.

Yuki Tsunoda's 9th-place finish ended a seven-race drought, but with only the pointless Alpine duo Franco Colapinto and Jack Doohan – who switched places six races into the season – beneath him in the standings, his Red Bull stint has been a disaster. Having earned his first ever F1 podium last weekend, Isack Hadjar will be worth keeping an eye on in Lombardy.
