In the men’s game, Trent Rockets will take on Manchester Super Giants at Lord’s in London. The story of the night could be Sam Billings, who’s won the last three The Hundred editions as captain of the Oval Invincibles (now MI London).
Well, he’s back in another final, this time as captain of Trent Rockets, who won the title once, in 2022, and finished second-best last year. MSG, on the other hand, will be looking for their maiden title after losing the finals twice, in 2022 and 2023.
The Rockets have been prolific this year, winning six out of eight matches and topping the table to qualify directly for the final. MSG, meanwhile, lost their way midway through the tournament, losing three matches in a row, but ultimately finished second.
They then crushed Sunrisers Leeds in the Eliminator to make it to the final. A lot of credit for this comeback goes to “Tall” Paul Walter’s initiation as an opener, who also scored a blistering 80 in the Eliminator.
Before the men take the field, though, we’ll have crowned the women’s champions. There, Trent Rockets take on defending champions Sunrisers Leeds (earlier Northern Superchargers). Much like the men, the Rockets women also topped the table and will now hope to get their first women’s trophy.
The Rockets women have been even more impressive, losing just one match and currently sitting on a six-match winning streak. But their opponents, Sunrisers Leeds, are also on a five-match winning run after losing three on the bounce early in the tournament. Their stars have been Phoebe Litchfield, the top run-getter, and Deepti Sharma, the top wicket-taker of the tournament so far.
