Denon’s new flagship streaming soundbar

A top-notch soundbar can do wonders for your TV, bringing an immersive home cinema experience to your living room. If you’re ready for an entertainment upgrade, Denon has you covered with its new flagship soundbar, the feature-packed DHT-SS716H.

With six channels of Class-D amplification, it’s certainly not short on power. Nor is it short on streaming options. You get newest version of Denon's proprietary HEOS Built-In multi-room technology, plus AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, enabling streaming from the likes of Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tidal and TuneIn internet radio.

To level up your movie nights, the bar offers Dolby Vision, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, which should provide plenty of weighty explosions – cut with crystal-clear dialogue.

If you want to ramp up the drama even further, you can pair the bar with the new Denon DSW-1H wireless subwoofer (£599). It features 2 x 5.25-inch custom drivers with 70 watts of Class D amplification to add a formidable punch of deep, powerful bass to your favourite movie soundtrack or recording.

There’s also the option to expand your set-up to a true 5.1 surround sound system by adding other compatible wireless or HEOS enabled speakers as rear surround channels.

Denon’s intuitive HEOS app provides full control of a plethora of advanced settings across all devices, but the soundbar also supports both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice controls. Just say the word and the DHT-S716H will oblige, adjusting the volume, skipping to the next track, and so on. This feature will require that you have a separate compatible Alexa or Google Assistant device.

Round the back, a decent spread of connectivity options includes four HDMI inputs with support for 4K Ultra HD pass through and HDCP 2.2.

It’s an impressive package, but we’d expect nothing less from an acclaimed audio brand that’s won a slew of What Hi-Fi Awards over the years. Like the cut of the DHT-716H high-quality jib? It’s available now for the very reasonable sum of £799.
