NEWS: BD-Live arrives for PS3

Sony has released the latest firmware upgrade for the PlayStation3, incorporating support for BD-Live on Blu-ray discs – only the second player after the Panasonic DMP-BD50 to do so.

The latest version 2.20 upgrade is here and introduces a number of updates including BD-Live, resume playback of DVDs, faster Interent browsing and support for previously unplayable large DivX and WMV files.

Once you've downloaded the new upgrade, your PS3 will be able to access the BD-Live features on discs such as web-based features, interactive games, community applications and the chance to download additional content.

This latest spec is included in existing titles Saw IV – we dread to think what extras are on there – and War. Naturally more BDs are expected to include this latest specification from now on.
