I'm a hi-fi expert and I’ve found 12 amazing audiophile-friendly deals you won't find on Amazon this Prime Day
No Prime? No problem
As the annual Amazon Prime Day sales event gets underway (here all week!), it's a great place to pick up bargains on wireless headphones, Bluetooth speakers and OLED TVs – it's just not that great for hi-fi deals.
Equally, you might not want to fork out for a Prime subscription, or you might just not keen on buying from the giant retailer anyway. If you're a hi-fi fan or embarking on your home audio journey, I would always recommend heading to one of the specialist retailers.
They can give you dedicated advice, help with set up, and there's usually a friendly (real) person on the phone who can help with any query too. It's a personal touch that I've always appreciated whenever I've bought from these specialists in the past 14+ years since I started reviewing audio products.
Happily, these specialist retailers – such as Richer Sounds, Peter Tyson, Sevenoaks in the UK – also offer some tremendous deals on hi-fi that you won't find anywhere on Amazon. If you're looking for gigantic savings on some premium floorstanders, discounts on What Hi-Fi? Award winning products, deals on high-end Naim kit or even some money off a lovely turntable – then you're in luck.
Below, I've highlighted some fantastic deals on hi-fi products that the What Hi-Fi? team (including myself) have tested and can personally recommend. My personal favourites are the sub-£1000 price on the Sonus Faber Omnia wireless system (I just wish I had the space to place it in my home), and the gigantic 70% discount on the retro-inspired JBL stereo amp. If only I had the need for another amp...
If you've got the budget, why not take the plunge and upgrade your system, and bag a fantastic bargain along the way? Happy shopping, and be rest assured that Amazon could never match these deals.
Wharfedale's high-end Elysian 4 floorstanders are gorgeous, impressing us with huge sonic scale, astounding bass depth and agility, and the build quality is immaculate. The problem was, you needed quite a big room for them to really shine.
So enters the Elysian 3. A "baby" version of their five-star siblings, these aim to deliver the same sonic scale for (slightly) smaller rooms. The Elysian 3 has the same tweeter and midrange, but smaller woofers – we've not tested this specific model, but we imagine they won't be too far off the mark of the bigger brothers.
The entire Elysian range has been upgraded, so it's a great time to indulge in this massive 50% discount that shaves £3000 off the full price. Is this the best hi-fi deal this week?
