Sony Bravia Theatre Bar 9 was $1399 now $1098 at Amazon (save $300)
The Sony Bravia Theatre Bar 9 is one of the finest Dolby Atmos soundbars we have tested and we rewarded it with a five-star review and a What Hi-Fi? Award in 2024. Superb clarity, impressive 3D audio processing and a classy, subtle design all wrapped up in this sleek, black soundbar.
When we first got our hands on the Sony Bravia Theatre Bar 9, we wanted to know how Sony was going to follow up on a three-time What Hi-Fi? Award-winner. And the answer was with an impressively big upgrade, worthy of the title once more.
It's absolutely one of the best soundbars we have tested, with gaming-friendly HDMI 2.1 passthrough, a more practical design, a better app and big improvements on a sound performance which was already fantastic in its predecessor, the HT-A7000.
This led us to say in our full review: "For clarity, detail, dynamics, solidity and outright Atmos-ness, it’s hard to fault, and its design is a big improvement, too."
Technically, it's super impressive. Alongside Dolby Atmos sound, there's a 13 driver setup that pairs four front woofers and three standard tweeters alongside two beam tweeters on the side. Plus, there are two up-firing speakers.
The most important thing when it comes to soundbar is, of course, the sound, and the dynamics in the Sony Theater Bar 9 are superb. There are other strengths we flag in our review too, such as its clarity, low-level dynamic subtlety and incredibly Atmos-y delivery.
All of which is why, when we see a deal like this on an excellent soundbar, we just have to recommend it. At just $1098 on Amazon right now, it feels like an easy decision.
