With some September sunshine still seeping through the clouds, the JBL Xtreme 4 is perfect for any outdoor gatherings you still have planned.
With a tough, wraparound grille made from a combination of recycled plastic and fabric, the Xtreme 4 is waterproof and dustproof, perfect if the heavens do decide to open.
And the Xtreme 4 can survive long trips as well as wet ones – the already impressive 24 hour battery can stretch to 30 with the Playtime Boost feature turned on. This does suck the weight and solidity out of the bass, however, so we'd save this for emergencies.
With Playtime Boost turned off, however, we're pleased to report a fantastically refined sound.
"It produces a wonderfully clear and consistent sound across tracks," our JBL Xtreme 4 review reads. "Low frequencies are poised and punchy but don’t lack weight. Highs are crisp enough so they don’t feel rolled off.
"Detail levels are excellent for the money and it's still exciting and fun to listen to, which is exactly what you want from a product like this."
There are plenty of features on board too – Bluetooth 5.3 and Auracast are both on offer, while the Xtreme 4 can also niftily function as a power bank if required.
The Xtreme 4 has since been replaced by, you guessed it, the JBL Xtreme 5. It adds drop resistance and a greater sonic presence to its list of credentials, but it's also currently over £100 more with a £279 price tag.
