Hi, I'm edging towards replacing an eight year old Benq projector, with something more modern.  It's the budget end of the market I'm looking at, but don't really know where to start.  I've just picked up a Denon AV2313 receiver and feel it deserves better than I have.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what your budget is, but this is worth a mention:

Thank you.  It is one of the four that I have already put on my "bargain hunt list".  At that price it's way out of range at present. I'll be looking for a bargain ex dem or SH.

I currently have an old BenQ PB6100, but it seems to be incompatible with my new Denon AVR 2313.  Well, not completely incompatible, but the Denon won't take a SCART signal from my Freeview box and put it out to the BenQ via Component Video.

Hi,

I own an Epson EH-TW5900 (last years budget model) and can highly recommend it.

Motion is the best i have seen on any screen as it displays each frame twice rather than use''Super10000000' htz processing or other trickery. Works amazingly well.

Colours are great as is the look. Picture is super clean.

Blacks whilst good in the actual picture, can make the black bars look a little greyer than i would like -but at £900 (what i paid) its amazing.

There are some calibration tips for the similar American model on www.projectorreviews.com. Look for the Epson 3010.

This has made a HUGE difference to the contrast and colours that this PJ can achieve.

3D is ok, but not great. Playing games however is amazing as the motion control is so good. A strong hi-res title like Virtua Fighter5 PS3 is simply incredible, deep blacks, unbelievable detail and motion.

Lastly it has speakers! Suprising how useful this is. Can take anywhere and play film or plug in wii etc. Watch in bedroom if TV in use downstairs.

Highly Recommended.

PJ comes with a 3yr Warranty from Epson so as it was last years model you may find a second hand one that you can transfer the warranty to yourself on. Just make sure it's UK stock.

Happy PJ hunting.

About a year ago I lowered my expectations of what ordinary commercial cinemas can provide, in terms of both picture quality and sound quality. Certainly a Samsung PS51E6500 should give a picture at least as good as commercial cinema, my neighbour upstairs bought the 60" version of your TV (on my recommendation). And you should be able to get a surround sound that is better balanced than I've heard in several commercial cinemas.

Hey Son_Of_SJ, the thing that looks strange to me anyway when in the cinema is the lack of edge definition on show and as for the sound in many a movie... it too often sounds too loud for its own good and never as clear as I recon it should. For me anyway my own speakers already seem more clear to listen to than the cinema ones in many cases if not most.

I fully agree with you on both points! Now I'm off to the kitchen to resume playing my Blu-Ray of Limitless at -15dB!
