Hi-fi speaker deals are thin on the ground this Prime Day, but I've tracked down 6 of the best worth a closer look
High-performing pairs for your perusal
I’m not going to lie, price-busting speaker deals are thin on the ground this Prime Day. That’s hardly a surprise, though, as we tend to see the biggest selection of price drops and discounts around Black Friday.
However, that hasn’t stopped me from using my two decades of experience in the world of hi-fi (and AV) to find a small selection of speaker deals worth investigating while the Prime Day sales continue.
I’ve lined them up for you below, and I’ve also mentioned a few highlights to give you a taste of their abilities.
The Dali Oberon 5 might be retiring, thanks to the Dali Sonik 5 arriving on the scene, but they’re still sensational-sounding speakers well worth considering.
They’re a great step-up model for anyone wanting to make the move from entry-level speakers and will fit into most rooms without issue, thanks to their unfussy dimensions. A musical marvel with £200 off.
We’ve given the Q Acoustics 5050 a What Hi-Fi Award? in recent years, and they’re an even more attractive proposition now thanks to a £300 discount which also includes speaker cable thrown in at Richer Sounds.
They are capable of producing a superbly insightful, engaging and entertaining sound provided you partner them with electronics that don’t sound too bright or aggressive. They boast excellent clarity and insight, expressive dynamics, and a slick build and finish.
The Bowers & Wilkins 603 S3 floorstanders are large, well-made speakers that are solid performers that will fill a room with ease. The 25mm titanium dome tweeter, 15cm midrange cone, and 16.5cm paper bass drivers combine to produce a weighty, full sound with plenty of punch.
This huge £500 saving sees them drop to their lowest price to date, and the deal is available across all three finishes (black, oak and white).
Focal’s attractive-looking Aria Evo X No3 floorstanders are superbly constructed and finished to a very high standard.
These tall towers deliver a wholesome, full-bodied sound which is both refined and enjoyable. And they sound that little bit sweeter with a mighty £810 discount.
KEF’s wonderful LSX II wireless speaker system continues to be one of our favourites, thanks to a fantastic blend of top-drawer performance, excellent features and awesome design and execution.
Powered by KEF’s W2 streaming platform, you can access all manner of features and services, from Amazon Music to Tidal. There’s also hi-res support and HDMI ARC, too. Expect awesome stereo imaging and sensational dynamics from this stylish package.
Wharfedale's high-end Elysian 4 floorstanders impressed us with huge sonic scale, astounding bass depth and agility, and immaculate build quality. This Elysian 3 model is a "baby" version of their five-star siblings, which aims to deliver the same sonic scale for (slightly) smaller rooms.
This model has the same tweeter and midrange, but smaller woofers, and although we've not tested this specific model, we imagine they won't be too far off their bigger brothers in terms of performance. And that £3000 saving is quite something!
