Belkin PureAV Home Theatre Power Console PF30
Well said, and don't forget that they have surge protection too which of course the wall socket does not, that is another reason i switched to the belkin conditioner over the tacima and the fact i can plug lots into into and choose which ones i want switched or unswitched and the amp is not restricted on the power front like with the tacimas too.
Jus read my own thread and I know the tacima has surge protection i meant to say the main reason i switched was the strangling of the sound for my hefty amp. Should lay off the drink me thinks, lol.
It maybe worth adding that if all you want is surge/spike protection, for just 46p you can simply wire one of these across the terminals in your equipment plug, extension lead, or mains wall socket: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=499. It's exactly the same type of device used for spike protection in the Tacima, the PureAV, Isotek and Russ Andrews devices... and virtually every (although not all) other device offering spike protection.
Just got one , and i'm very happy the results and the price what a bargain! ![]()
How much you get it for and where? to help others. Cheers.
Got my 2 from IT247.com. Cost me £13.47 each plus £5.67 3-5 working days postage. Ordered Friday evening and they came first thing Tuesday morning ! They have gone up to £19.68 but they appear to have 98 still in stock. Amazing value and the service from IT247 was superb. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but they are amazing value and fantastically built.

Hi,
I purchased one of these and yes the turnaround was very quick.
However mine had 4 scuff marks on the facia, contacted IT247, heard nothing for a couple of days then received email, I am being sent a replacement direct from the supplier but this has not turned up. IT247 are chasing this for me and hopefully I will receive it by Friday.

Got mine fron amazon seller shop4usb for £18.61 del, prices going up slightly cheapest on there now is 22.74 delivered
Got mine today glad to see the build quality is just as good as it is with the PF40, very happy ![]()
Mine arrived yesterday. Too early to say if there is any improvement, but it is very nicely made and for £18.61 it was worth a punt even if it is just for the surge protection and next time I say that I cannot tell the difference between my various HDMI cables, Alienerik wont be able to blame my lack of mains filtering ![]()
Gentlemen,
Mine arrived this morning. I will experiment over the weekend and see how this fares against the Tacima.
For the money, it just looks absolutely fantastic - a quality piece of kit.
Ronald
Guys, any feedback on how this has been performing? Is it worth a punt? I'm currently using a Tacima unit but would sell that if this is a better bet.
Grdunn123,
This is the best £20.00 I've ever spent on my AV equipment!
The
unit is simply gorgeous and is a quality piece of kit and YES, it
betters the Tacima for both sound and picture, plus it just looks
fantastic on my rack.
I'm trying to get another but they appear to be sold out!
Ronald

Audioprism and, interestingly, PureAV, both make 'home' devices anyone can use for detecting noise on their own mains supply - they're called "Noise Sniffers". You simply plug the device into a mains socket and it converts any electrical noise it finds into audible noise you can hear (PureAV's version also displays the noise level). Plug the device into your mains conditioner and hopefully the mains noise will disappear - remove the mains conditioner, and the mains noise will likely reappear.
The PureAV version can be bought for about £50 (but I think this, like all PureAV's mains conditioners, is in the process of being discontinued). The Audioprism can be bought, or it can be hired from Russ Andrews. Personally, I think the PureAV "Noise Sniffer" is the most versatile of the two since as well as being able to adjust sensitivity levels, the display is useful too, and it has a memory function so you can compare readings.
In my view, it's worth testing your mains first with a Noise Sniffer before buying a mains conditioner - if your mains is clean you won't need a conditioner, and if your mains is 'dirty' it'll prove how effective your conditioner is (or isn't) at dealing with the problem - or if it's dealing with the right problem. Everybody seems to assume their power is 'dirty' and they need a mains conditioner - and that isn't always the case. Some hi-fi Mains Conditioners when used on a mains supply that is actually quite clean really do have a detrimental effect (it's measurable), but I wouldn't put the PF30 in that category - the PF30 doesn't work that way.
If a Tacima has a good effect in your environment, the PF30 should be at least as good and most likely better (possibly a great deal better). If a Tacima doesn't do anything for you, I'd avoid this PF30 (and PF40, 50 and 60), since the circuitry inside is largely based on the same principles.
