How Marantz is reshaping traditional Hi-Fi for the modern audiophile

By What Hi-Fi?

Think you know everything about hi-fi? Thanks to Marantz, you might need to think again

The traditional hi-fi system has been updated, upgraded and made fit for the 21st century. The connectivity offered by wireless speakers can now be bettered by modern hi-fi systems, which allow you to link new and old devices via analogue, digital or wireless methods. The modern hi-fi system gives you a level of choice that can’t be replicated on a wireless speaker, supporting everything from turntables to CD players, headphones and smartphones, AirPlay and Bluetooth, Spotify Connect and Amazon Music HD (opens in new tab).

Convenience has often come with a compromise. From MP3 files to Bluetooth streaming, the wonder of wireless digital music left us sorely lacking in the sound quality department. But it no longer has to be that way. The latest Marantz hi-fi systems offer wireless streaming of high-resolution audio, and to every room in your house, thanks to built-in HEOS multi-room technology. Modern music systems marry form and function, delivering true stereo sound that a single-box speaker just can’t match.

While the size and convenience of Bluetooth speakers might be tempting, they trade quality and connectivity for compact size – a sacrifice that it’s no longer necessary to make as Marantz systems deliver high-resolution sound, complete connectivity and wireless multi-room streaming. For ultimate performance, a modern hi-fi system can top anything a wireless speaker can deliver, with a range of stylish options ensuring there’s something for everyone.

And gone are the days of big, bulky boxes that take up valuable space and don’t fit the style of your home. The latest hi-fi systems are slim, sleek and available in a range of shapes and sizes, depending on your demands. From elegant modern designs to classic, vintage style, there’s a cutting-edge streaming music system to suit your needs, with Marantz drawing on 60 years of audio heritage to offer class-leading solutions for every budget.

PM7000N, a new high-performance integrated amplifier with music streaming capabilities

Take the Marantz PM7000N, (opens in new tab) a five-star, Award-winning, just-add-speakers streaming music system. This has been designed with the modern audiophile in mind, who desires easy access to their favourite music streaming services, particularly high-resolution content.

The PM7000N offers analogue and digital connections, which allow you to hook up external components such as a CD player, turntable or simple USB drive. Inside is the hi-res, multi-room HEOS platform created by Marantz and sister brand Denon, giving you direct access to networked music servers, internet radio, and music streaming services including Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and Amazon Music HD (opens in new tab). There’s AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, plus support for voice control through Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri. Superb hi-fi sound is the icing on this feature-packed cake.

The PM7000N packs in 60W per channel of amplification, a DAC, a network module and access to a host of music streaming services, all inside an attractive, slender package. You can stream 24-bit/192kHz high-resolution music and 5.6MHz DSD files.

Multi-talented systems with a wealth of functionality

Marantz’s NA6006 (opens in new tab) network audio player and ND8006 (opens in new tab) network CD player are every bit as multi-talented, offering a wealth of functionality inside traditional hi-fi separate boxes. The NA6006 uses the unique Marantz HDAM circuitry, which guarantees fast signal amplification with wide bandwidth for maximum sonic detail. This combined with high quality D/A conversion, solid mechanical construction and a clean power supply are the best ingredients for musical audio of a level that can’t be matched by a Bluetooth speaker.

The ND8006 adds an audiophile CD drive, while both machines offer high-quality playback from home network sources, local USB storage, online streaming services, Internet radio, as well as Bluetooth and AirPlay 2. There’s also support for HEOS multi-room, high-resolution audio and more.

True Hi-Fi performance, meets elegant design

Fancy something a little more compact? The Marantz Melody X (opens in new tab) is, as described in the What Hi-Fi? review, “a serious wi-fi streamer with built-in amps and a CD player, not a boom box”. What’s more, the Melody X requires very little physical set-up to become the all-singing, all-dancing and (crucially) fully-functioning article. There’s hi-res support, HEOS multi-room, Internet radio, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer and Amazon Music HD (opens in new tab) – and you can use Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri virtual assistants to control the system.

Built on the Melody X and crafted from the same superior materials is the similarly compact Marantz Melody M-CR412 (opens in new tab), which lets you stream your digital music via Bluetooth or USB, play CDs, listen to FM and DAB radio, and connect up your TV.

Marantz have been renowned for delivering class-leading hi-fi sound since 1953, and with a wealth of streaming features, complete connectivity, and stylish design on their modern components – there’s a Marantz system for you.
