Sky+ iPad app is now a remote control

Sky has released an update to its Sky+ iPad app allowing you to use the app as a remote control.
The update gives you complete control of your Sky+ box on your iPad, allowing you to view the EPG and manage and delete recordings without interrupting the picture on the screen.
Trailed at the start of the year and confirmed last month, you'll also be able to change channels, pause, play and rewind TV using the updated Sky+ iPad app.

The TV Guide has also been given a new look, with new genre tabs, improved search and navigation and an emphasis on a more intuitive user experience.
You will need to connect your Sky box to your internet connection - and have the new look Sky Guide on the box – while also having the iPad on the same network.
If you have multiple boxes in your home, we're reliably informed that you can switch between boxes, too, making for a nice multiroom Sky remote.
Further enhancements are planned for later in the year, including second screen viewing on the iPad app and the integration of social TV service Zeebox.

footloose there is a favorites section on the epg and if you press the blue button while watching tv. The box first displays the channel you were watching previously and then scrolls through your selected favorite channels.
Andriod users?? I really want a Nexus 7 but when stuff like this seems to be ipad only then im not sure of the point of it. And i so want to support the multi billion pound underdog!
I don't have the new look EPG yet, so it won't work for me just as yet

We're updating the Sky Guide on the majority of our Sky+HD boxes to make it easier to use. We've improved the way the Sky Guide looks and you'll be able to find your favourite shows more quickly. You do not need an HD pack to access the new Sky Guide. The first phase of update is now complete and all DRX890 models of the Sky+HD and the Sky+HD 1TB should now have the new Sky Guide.
To find out which Sky+HD box model you have, press Services on your Sky Remote, then press 0 to highlight Settings. Press 3 to highlight System Details. Note down the version number, 2nd line from the top of the screen:
The new Sky Guide is only available on certain boxes as only Sky+HD boxes have the power and capabilities to run the new software. Thomson and older Sky+ are not optimised for software updates or services such as these enhanced Sky+ app features and our library of TV on demand.
Will this allow me to just display only my 'Favorite' channels, instead of (as is the case with the remote) having to suffer the annoying tedium of scrolling through all the other channels (which I don't want to see) between my favorites? If it doesn't it's a dead loss, as that is the most irritating part of using the remote, and I certainly can't understand why something so simple, cannot be implemented.
Excellent! I agree they were behind but they have an app up their sleeve!
hopefully it comes to Android soon.
Yes, I think
Happy to be wrong though.
Does sound like I should have a read, that would be great. Moved from Sky to virgin this year and so far, their app hes been less than stellar. I'll pick up a copy and check it out, thanks.
You think? You should read the latest issue, out 24th August. Some exclusive news on Virgin app doing just this and more...
Virgin are miles behind Sky with all this... Shame
