zeppelin dac

Can someone answer this simple question please, i listen to a zeppelin air i dont use air play at the minute saving for an ipad i dont dock the i pod in the zeppelin i find it easier to control the ipod with a cable from the aux socket to the ipod. my question is would this work running the cable still from the aux socket then into an Arcam dock place the ipod in the arcam would the dac in the arcam improve sound or do i just live with it thanks martin....
