Pure Digital PocketDAB 1500 review

Products that are perfect for their purpose don't get much better than this - a sports fan’s must-have Tested at £85.00

Our Verdict

The best pocket digital radio yet: it’s compact, it’s built to last, it sounds good and it runs on rechargeable batteries. All you need, in fact

For

  • Compact, solidly-built and sounds good too

Against

  • Nothing significant

When it comes to keeping up with the events of a busy Saturday afternoon while at the game or just out shopping, sports fans used to have it tough: whether on Five Live or TalkSport, the commentaries were always on good old crackly AM, prone to fading and every kind of radio distortion known to man.

These days you can get those stations in full DAB clarity – so you can actually hear what the commentators are screaming about.

On top of that, you also get TalkSport in similar clarity, and can access all of Five Live's extra services which kick in when there are lots of matches on.

There's also FM reception as a backup should you wander out of DAB range, and the onboard rechargeable battery gives up to 24 hours of listening, and the whole enterprise only weighs 123g.

Products that are perfect for their purpose don't get much better than this. A sports fan's must-have? Definitely.
