Here's a story to split opinions. Firstly, it centres around the latest Sony Ericsson W890i Walkman phone, launched earlier in the year and set for a release next month. Fancy a phone as MP3 player?
Secondly, Sony Ericsson has announced a link-up with "global superstar" Usher, who will perform a concert at the Indigo2 arena at the o2 complex in Greenwich to celebrate.
Now we know from our office Usher is far from everyone's cup of tea...
But as convergence continues apace, it's the music phone that interests us. As readers of the magazine will know, some of the latest multimedia phones are surprisingly good music players.
The W890i Walkman phone aims unsurprisingly to set a new standard for MP3 players on phones. There's an internal 8GB memory, FM radio, Bluetooth Stereo and support for MP3 and AAC files.
It is of course a 'phone too, with a 3.2-megapixel camera, polyphonic ringtones and the Access NetFront Web browser.
If nothing else, Usher's involvement allows us to laugh at his quotes on the matter. He said: "This is a great partnership for me as an artist." Hmm. "Sony Ericsson are a young vibrant brand and with their Walkman phones making a lot of noise out there right now its perfect timing for us all."
So, Sony Ericsson and Usher making a lot of noise near you soon – probably thanks to a group of kids on a bus.
