The Sonos Ace hit a record-low price but I'd snap up this Bowers & Wilkins deal instead

If you've been looking for a deal on a pair of big name wireless headphones, then you might have spotted that you can pick up the Sonos Ace for $395 at Amazon.

The $50 saving is nice to see, but the fact that we only gave them three out of five stars makes it very difficult for us to recommend the deal.

Instead, we'd 100 per cent recommend going for the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e, which are not only cheaper at $299 but also far superior based on our experience testing the two.

Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e: was $399 now $299 at Amazon

The Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2e wireless noise-cancelling headphones boast one of the best designs on the market. But as well as being stylish, they're also backed up with insightful, clean and focused sound. Given that they're $95 cheaper than the three-star Sonos Ace headphones, we'd say go for the PX7 S2e every single time.

In our Sonos Ace review, we found that the headphones delivered a simplistic and safe sound that felt a little congested, with a lack of spaciousness. Testing with film soundtracks like Inception's Time, for example, the Ace struggled to stir emotions and missed finer sonic details.

When compared to the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e the Sonos Ace just can't keep up. In our full review we said the Px7 S2e's "biggest talent" was its sound quality. High praise indeed.

The Px7 S2e are also a beautifully designed pair of headphones that support one of the higher-quality Bluetooth codecs around, Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive, as well as both USB-C and 3.5mm cable connections (both cable types are provided in the box).

The specifications sheet is also full of impressive stats, from 30 hours of battery life to an arguably even more stunning ability to give you seven hours of playback from just a 15-minute charge.

With all that said, the Sonos Ace still has plenty to offer. Its streamlined, stylish design is paired with intuitive physical controls, and it still serves up some appealing features, particularly for existing Sonos users.

This includes a TV Audio Swap feature lets you seamlessly transfer audio between the headphones and a Sonos soundbar, adding unique functionality that could be very appealing for late-night viewing sessions.

Unless you’re after that specific Sonos ecosystem feature, though, we reckon most people would currently be better off going for the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e instead. You can get them now for only $395 at Amazon.
