Bang & Olufsen auctions its first white BeoSound 9000 system for charity

BeoSound 9000 auction

It's a truly limited edition of the company's famous six-disc changer hi-fi system, with just 1500 white models being made, and each has a number laser-engraved onto the disc-clamper to show where it sits in the production run.

And to mark the occasion, the company is auctioning number 0001/1500, complete with a matching pair of its BeoLab 8000 speakers, in support of UNICEF.

In addition, the winning bidder will get a tour of Bang & Olufsen HQ in Struer, Denmark, will visit the new company display in the Struer Museum, and will receive their system from company CEO Karl Kristian Hvidt Nielsen.

The auction is being run by Danish fine art auctioneers Bruun Rasmussen, and opened today, with the closing time being 19.00 on January 15, 2009.

You can bid online here: the bidding is already at 55,000 Danish Kroner, or about £6500, and the system is expected to sell for at least £9000.
