NEWS: Vita expands its range with new music centre

This is the new R4 'Integrated Music System' from Vita Audio, combining a CD player, DAB/FM tuner, iPod dock, amp and speakers in one sleek unit.

At prices starting from £500, it comes in a choice of real wood or high-gloss finishes, and has at least one feature unique to the company - the RotoDial main control in the top-panel can be detached and used as a remote handset.

The R4 has a slot-loading CD player, capable of handling standard CDs as well as discs carrying MP3 and WMA files, and those compressed formats can also be played in via a USB slot on the front panel.

Two analogue auxiliary inputs are also provided, the dock can accept most 1st-5th generation iPod models, including the Touch, and there's also a stereo headphone output.

There's a built-in FM RDS/DAB tuner, clock and alarm settings, and selectable tone controls plus a 3D enhanced stereo sound system. The power output is 80W, via twin forward-facing speakers and an integrated active subwoofer.

The system costs £500 in Rich Walnut veneer, or £50 more in what's called Dream White high-gloss lacquer. It will be available in June through selected audio and design retailers.
