There are great headphones, and then there are the Grado SR325x. We're not being hyperbolic when we say that the SR325x are some of the best open-backed headphones we've ever tested, a pair of legends that have continued to scoop Award after What Hi-Fi? Award following their debut in 2021.

In fact, if you're sick of wireless headphones and just want the quality and convenience you get with wired cans, the Grado SR325x have to be on your shortlist. At £199 at Peter Tyson down from £329, they're also at what is possibly the lowest price we've yet seen.

Come on, it's time to start taking your music seriously. It's time to graduate to a pair of Grados.

Grado SR325x: was £329 now £199 at Peter Tyson

The Grado SR325x have dropped to their lowest-ever price, and trust us, that means something. Under £200 for some of the best headphones we've tested over the past 20 years makes this one of the deals of Prime Day, and one that should not be missed if you really care about audio quality. Which you should.

In terms of pure sound quality, wireless headphones are as good as they've ever been, but wired headphones are in a different league, with the Award-winning Grado SR325x continuing to set the standard at their premium price point.

The multi-award-winning open-backs are ideal for home listening, as while they might be hugely entertaining to listen to, they're also extremely leaky. That's just what you get with a pair of open-backed cans.

That shouldn't matter, however, as the SR325x aren't the sort of cans you simply throw in your back to fill some hours during your commute. As we wrote in our review: “The SR325x... are wonderfully expressive dynamically, and lows are agile and tuneful, but there’s still not the outright weight and low-end punch of closed headphone designs".

To get the most out of the SR325x, pair them with a DAC or decent audio source such as a portable music player. Do so, and you'll realise just how insightful and expressive the Grados are, with a fast, sparky yet authoritative signature that really shines when given proper support.

While they boast an industrial design that that might not be everyone’s cup of tea, what you get from these cans is a ruggedness and durability that’s hard to find. Comfort isn't the name of the game here – it's all about audio quality.

Ditch the Bluetooth this Prime Day, and return to the warm embrace of good old fashioned wires. Get the Grado SR32x at Peter Tyson and enjoy true headphone greatness.
