iPhone 3GS Airplay without SIM
A friend of mine is selling his Apple iPhone 3GS as he is gettiing a new contract, I am contemplating buying it and using it for airplay purposes to send music to an Airport Express.
Would this work without a SIM card or would I need to get one?
Thanks
yes fair point John haha
Make sure the price is good when compared to a iTouch or an iPad with equivalent storage - i.e. if you're not going to use the phone aspect of the iPhone.
Thanks, my original plan was to save for an iPad and hopefully one day I will get round to it. Until that day comes this will hopefully tide me over.
The iPhone I got is the original 3G and I am having problems with it. Most notably it only picks up wi fi from right in front of the router even though all my other devices pick it up all through the house. I am not sure if this is because I am operating it without a Sim or is it just a problem with the phone?
I purchased an O2 PAYG sim but apparently it needs £10 credit on before it is activated so am reluctant to do so if it could be the phone. Any ideas anyone?
I don't have a sim and use a 3GS iPhone for AirPlay. So would assume no problem.
Airplay won't work on it then...

[Edit] Ok read thread again. You have a 3G now but you are upgrading to a 3GS and are asking about that. Sorry.

Even if it didn't, a PAYG SIM will cost you about £2.
