US NEWS: Sony MP3s your LPs with its new USB turntable

Sony has become the latest company to add a USB turntable to its American range. The new PS-LX300USB is a belt-drive deck with both USB output and a built-in phono stage, meaning it can be also be used with amps and receivers only having line-level inputs.

The $150 turntable comes complete with a moving magnet cartridge pre-installed, and offers 33 1/3 and 45rpm speeds. Also supplied in the box is Sony's Sound Forge Audio Studio software, to convert audio to MP3 and edit it on a computer.
