The five-star KEF LS50 Meta speakers are now down AU$500 at Amazon – with a couple of caveats
Prime member? Happy with black? Then you’re in luck

If you’re in the market for a fresh set of talented standmount speakers, the KEF LS50 Meta should feature on your audition list. They may have originally launched way back in 2020, but they’ve been able to fend off plenty of incoming competition in the years since, and we still rate them as five-star performers that should please even the fussiest of audiophiles.
And right now, you can snap up these exceptional standmounts for AU$1,999 at Amazon, albeit with a couple of caveats. Firstly, this is a Prime-exclusive deal, so you’ll need to be an Amazon Prime member. (If you’ve not subscribed to Prime previously, you can take advantage of a free 30-day trial.) Secondly, only the Carbon Black model is discounted – Amazon also stocks Mineral White and Titanium Grey colours, for what it’s worth.
A AU$500 saving on the superb, class-leading LS50 Meta speakers is one worth paying attention to. It’s not quite the lowest price we’ve ever seen (they were down to AU$1,725 for Black Friday last year) but it’s still a fantastic price. If you’re keen, we’d suggest you move quickly, as Amazon is flagging that this is a limited time deal.
I can personally attest to the KEF LS50 Metas being a great pair of standmounts – I even use a pair in my reference system when reviewing audio equipment for Australian Hi-Fi. My colleagues at What Hi-Fi? gave them the gong in their annual Awards last year, proving their quality despite having just celebrated their fifth birthday.
The Metas deliver exceptional clarity and finesse, even more so than the original LS50s. They sound cleaner and more sophisticated than their predecessors, especially in the higher frequencies where their insight and refinement shine with the greatest sparkle.
In our KEF LS50 Meta review, we said the speakers "set the performance standard for stereo speakers anywhere close to this price".
Delivering music with authority and handling large-scale dynamics extremely well, these speakers offer an impressive amount of muscle for their size.
Not only that, but they're a beautifully constructed set of boxes, with a curved cabinet front-panel made from a polyester resin combined with glass fibre and calcium carbonate. That provides a solid foundation for the Uni-Q drive unit array, wherein the tweeter sits in the throat of the mid/bass unit.

Max is a staff writer for What Hi-Fi?'s sister site, TechRadar, in Australia. But being the wonderful English guy he is, he helps out with content across a number of Future sites, including What Hi-Fi?. It wouldn't be his first exposure to the world of all things hi-fi and home cinema, as his first role in technology journalism was with What Hi-Fi? in the UK. Clearly he pined to return after making the move to Australia and the team have welcomed him back with arms wide open.
