Most expensive cd album you ever bought..!!
Yes,remember when cd albums were very very expensive.....whats the most you ever paid for a single or double album??
I remember looking at them in HMV in the late 80's early 90's and thinking 'how much more expensive can these damn things get',(and some of them were only about 30 mins long!!)
I wanted the US version of BT's movement in still life, probably around 1999-2000. It wasn't that expensive, but once postage and duties had been taken in to account it cost about £35. I have three versions of that album (UK, UK Ltd, US) on CD, once on vinyl and the white label ep
Black Sabbath - Live at Hammersmith Odeon. A limited edition, only 5,000 made. Cost me £55 from ebay. However, each copy is numbered and its the number that is missing from mine. Hence, I believe I have a fake. It's a very good fake, printing on CD and sleeve is first rate, but there is no number on it. Rich
I paid $100 for a sealed copy of the Mobile Fidelity version of The Joshua Tree
Prince Crystal Ball cost me £30 (bought it for one good track that was in a Michael J Fox movie) and Lethal Weapon score on CD cost me £25. Not quite as stratospheric as some may post!
i craved greenday back then
now i dont listen to any music
I started buying CDs when they first came out so must have spent some over-the-top money. However, back in the middle 80s to mid 90s a local shop used to hire out cds and when they had been hired a certain number of times they sold them at a substantial discount. Saved a bloody fortune and never ever had a poor example, guess their clientel looked after stuff as well as I do.
Ayla - Nirwana around 2005 - Amazingly hard to find in the UK and ended up paying £40 for it. Unfortunatly I then found out it was MASSIVE in Germany and i'f i'd bothered with a translation tool i could have bought it for £8 +P&P **SIGH**
I remember the BT Movement in Still Life prices though. that was hard to get for a VERY long time...
An SHM-SACD of Who's Next, Jap' import, cost c. £40 with p&p in 2010.
Sold it for a profit on Amazon a year later
Probably my Mo-Fi remaster of Faith No More's 'Angle Dust (worth it :) ) followed by the Mo-Fi remaster of Megadeth's 'Countdown To Extinction' (not worth it
)... £30 a piece IIRC.
Monolake - Hong Kong. 30 quid from what i remember.
Not an album but a 2 track CD single by Prince. Wife is a HUGE fan and her birthday is 14/2 so I hunted down a Japanese Promo of 'Most beautiful girl in the world' embossed in gold in a valentine folder. Was £150 7 years ago. Hopefully it's an investment.....
However, it did earn me major brownie points

And a wee bit cheaper than Prince's gold-plated Strat'
Neil Young's Eldorado EP. £45, I think.
Also paid silly amounts for various NY, Beefheart, Beatles boots, before the internet came along and laid waste to most expensive illegal recordings.
I know my uncle paid a far whack for 'Slash Live @ M.E.N. 2010' He said he'd kill me if there was a bit of dust on it

I bought Pink Floyd the Wall double CD some time in the late '80s. Think it was £30. I guess that's about 50 quid in today's money. Ouch.
And when they used to be sooooo expensive, if I didn't like a CD I'd take it back to the shop for exchange or refund.
