Oh misery!

Just arrived - My lovely copy of the fabulous Nat King Cole remastered album "Just One of Those Things" from amazon.com. An Analogue Productions 45rpm work of art. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VOP7KU

And one of Claire N's favourites, I believe. I'd waited four weeks for this thing of beauty to arrive (referring to the disc, not Claire - as would be impolite, if not also valid)

Only problem - the feeble packaging was all dog-eared and I could see the shape of a curved outline of the disc on the cardboard shipping outer. What would the inside look like?

Carefully opening the damaged packaging - oh dear - the outer sleeve is really crumpled and bent - and the inside sleeve notes booklet too.

Playing the discs - relief - Nat at his finest!! A relief, but holding my crumpled sleeves and notes while I listen.... - Angelina - what do I do???

I've responded on their "what do you think about our "frustration-free packaging" link, and sent pictures of the damage, but surely I can't send it back? They would just put Nat in the trash-can. Sacrilege!! Do they do discounts, or vouchers?

Quelle horreur! Crying

I have had this happen with Amazon before: they simply sent out a replacement, which was perfect. They said I could keep the original - so i gave the first disc to a friend....

However, this was a while ago, and with standard packaging (that was the problem - the disc was rattling around in a box with insufficient padding: the sleeve/inner notes bent at every corner...)

Let us know how you get on

(And hey, at least you get to hear the brilliant vinyl  - glad you like it :)  )

RE: Amazon and Dog-eared Vinyl

Thanks Clare,  I'll try that.

Such a fabulous recording - one question, does Nat seem to move nearer and further away from the microphone at some points, as his level slightly rises and lowers?

With the extremely high quality of this recording, I started to question if my turntable was properly setup, or maybe it was Nat reaching for a cigarette. I think I can hear that amount of detail on this recording :-)

You certainly do get the feel of a real recording session - including Nat moving around in his booth! I'll have another listen at the weekend and report back re levels....
