NEWS: Thiel adds custom TV speakers

If you fancy that retro 'speaker ears' thing on your new huge flatscreen TV, but your plasma or LCD of choice doesn't come with bolt-ons, US speaker manufacturer Thiel has the answer. Its new ViewPoint speakers, custom-built to suit each individual TV, use a two-way design said to give very superior sound,

The ViewPoint speakers use a coaxial drive unit for the midband and treble, with a woofer mounted to make the most of the reinforcement from the wall. It's claimed this arrangement gives both precise focus and wide dispersion characteristics, allowing the sound to fill the room.

The speakers have a custom-built aluminium cabinet, just over 23cm wide and almost 13cm deep, with height varying to match the TV with which they'll be used. The speakers are distributed in the UK by Symmetry Systems.
