NEWS: Boston's new spin on a choice of radio formats

Forget the arguments about DAB or FM – the new Solo XT table radio from Boston Acoustics receives both - and think instead about whether you'd prefer an upright design or one in a more conventional wide format.

Well, the Solo XT does both of those, too, its rotating control panel giving you the choice of layouts. It's part of a package of user-options available on this radio, which can also be ordered with one of eight coloured metal front grilles using Boston's Personal Option plan.

It also has an internal power supply, so no need for a 'wall-plug' power transformer, a headphone socket, line-level output and MP3 player input, and automatic backlight dimming to suit ambient conditions.

Two alarm settings are provided, with a 'snooze ring' feature: touch the ring around the control/display panel to activate snooze mode when the alarm is sounding.

The buttons have a soft-touch rubber feel, and the self-damping cabinet is available in either Midnight Black or Mint Cream White.
