Which way to improve

My system is TEAC Reference 380 + pair of Wharfedale 506 (30Years old). Should I replace the speakers with Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 (so raved about) & would inserting a DAC (say Lindy DAC) between the CD player & the Amp help?

A DAC would help - BUT, the biggest variable difference in your system is the speakers, given you already have a good amplifier. Upgrade to something from the current Wharfedale range - 10.1 or 10.2 and you'll enjoy a good improvement.
