Can anyone point me in the right direction for easy-to-fit effective acoustic ceiling tiles?

I'm getting lots of bass upstairs in the bedroom from the speakers downstairs in the lounge, so would like try and see if I can fit an extra layer to the lounge ceiling (old 1930's style so the tiles will cover all the old cracks etc too) , without too much hassle.

If you are handy you could put 2x2 studs on your ceiling put a layer of rock wool in between and put a new 25mm plaster board up  not realy sure if this will be cheaper or easyer  than putting up a susspended ceiling or are you thinking sticking tyles  directly onto your ceiling anyway good lucklet us know how you get on

Yes, I supose this is an option - wondered if there was an easier self-adhesive style solution before I start drilling holes Smile

As GSB mentioned, this is a costly affair, but if you are so inclined here is another option that may be of interest to you.http://gikacoustics.com/product/gik-artpanel-acoustic-panels/

Certainly a more wife friendly solution.

Smile Heres another option and this does work.. very well.... but depends on your floor upstairs, would still work out cheaper than rebourding then scimming the ceiling, AND hoping all the work done would reduce sound/bass coming through.

Or just turn the volume down... ohhh sure

RE: Acoustic Ceiling Tiles ?

I think I'm going to have to stick with headphones as a solution.

As my problem is bass, correct me if I'm wrong but I think I need to cover the whole ceiling, or lift all the floorbaords upstairs to treat between the beams.

Or move house Smile

Affraid so mate...but for a cheap and easy fix(no idea if it would work to)get some nice thick ceiling tiles,no nails them up on the ceiling, when dry....do the same with another lot of tiles, but try to not put tile in same position,so as to overlay the joints. There may even be an acoustic paint Smile
