This should work well: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Optical-Cable-Toslink-1M/dp/B00077DC5Q/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1332844447&sr=8-16

Or for a little more this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-F008-NickelSpec-Resolution-Connector/dp/B003YSOKIS/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1332844563&sr=8-15

This one seems to be well liked...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/XO-Digital-Optical-Cable-2m/dp/B002NLWD5O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332844616&sr=8-2

... but I haven't had a lot of experience in optical digital cables. I'm still using the one supplied with an old Beresford DAC. It works perfectly.

RE: GOOD QUALITY OPTICAL CABLE

As short a length as possible and one that doesnt kink, so a nice stiff sheath to keep the bend radius to a minimum.

I'm going to try a short 1m lead again (£2.80 from Amazon) as the current optical cables I have are 3m long. Not sure it's the sole reason why I prefer the sounds over USB, but if it gets it closer then the reduction in mains interference will be welcome.

J River MC19 ->Amazon Essentials USB cable -> Dacmagic+ -> Neutrik Mic XLR -> Caspian M2 -> some random ring mains cable -> D18 / BeyerDT880.
