SMS Audio and Intel unveil BioSport heart rate-sensing earbuds

The BioSport earphones claim to merge "lifestyle requirements with technology innovation to enhance the fitness experience." The earphones use built-in biometric sensors to measure your heart rate and collect fitness data. Initially, users will be required to use the RunKeeper app to access heart-rate data, but SMS Audio has said more applications will be supported in the future.

The BioSports are charged via the 3.5mm gold-plated jack, meaning users will never lose power and they're also IPX4 rated to protect against sweat and water. A patented ear-hook designed also ensure a comfortable and secure fit.

Max is a staff writer for What Hi-Fi?'s sister site, TechRadar, in Australia. But being the wonderful English guy he is, he helps out with content across a number of Future sites, including What Hi-Fi?. It wouldn't be his first exposure to the world of all things hi-fi and home cinema, as his first role in technology journalism was with What Hi-Fi? in the UK. Clearly he pined to return after making the move to Australia and the team have welcomed him back with arms wide open.
