Custom Design Milan 4 (hi-fi) review

Small is beautiful, and this neat little equipment rack from Custom Design proves the point with its accomplished performance Tested at £470.00

Our Verdict

It's got a fast and agile sound, but newer rivals have overtaken it

For

  • Fast, agile, dynamically superb
  • tonally balanced
  • very compact

Against

  • Lacks some subtlety and detailing

Small, but perfectly formed from wood and glass, the Custom Design Milan 4 snugly encases our Cyrus CD 6 SE and Moon i-3RS test kit.

Our rig deals out a meaty, full-bodied, fast-paced sound with a centralised soundstage. There's good treble, responsive midrange and punchy bass, but compared with some it lacks subtlety and detailing.

Its rivals have closed the gap, and as a result it loses a star.
