The first release of the latest firmware update for the PS3 was plagued by bugs and hackers – fingers crossed this second version should put an end to all of that

Over at Sony HQ, it's a case of if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Following the ill-fated firmware update for PS3 that was launched last week, see here, it appears the Japanese giant has a bug-free, 2.41 replacement up its sleeve.

In case you missed the main features of the new update, they include in-game access to the console's cross media bar (XMB) and the inclusion of trophies (Sony's equivalent to Xbox gamer points).

So, as long as Sony doesn't find any more problems, you'll be able to download the new firmware by the end of the week. Fingers crossed...
