Yamaha is raising some of its prices in the New Year, but all its 2008 What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Award winners remain unaffected.
The RX-V1900 receiver (shown) will rise on January 1st from £900 to £1000, and the RX-V3900 goes up from £1300 to £1500. Both models are tested in the January 2009 issue of the magazine, on sale from December 11th, so if you want to pick one up at the old price, you'll need to buy it before Christmas.
On the hi-fi front, the A-S700 stereo amplifier goes up £50 to £500, and the CD-S700 rises from £350 to £400. The M430 micro system, which was expected to sell for £299, has been delayed and will go on sale next year for £349, although Yamaha says it will honour existing pre-orders at £299.
However, the good news is that the Award-winning Yamaha DSP-AX863SE (£600) and DSP-AX763 (£400) will not be subject to any price rise. The same applies to the £900 YSP-40D soundbar and the £2000 Z7 amp.
"Yamaha has kept its price increases to a minimum and we felt it appropriate not to raise the price of any of the Award winners, which we feel is the correct decision for the consumer," says a Yamaha spokesman.
