NEWS: Sonus Faber goes elliptical with latest speakers

Italian speaker company Sonus Faber, known for its striking-looking, fine-sounding products with names derived from instruments and composers, has gone all elliptical with its latest design.

This is the wall-mountable new model, selling for £2690 a pair, and rejoicing in the name – deep breath – Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor Elipsa.

Designed to fit in with the rest of the Cremona range, and available in either the light graphite finish seen here or natural maple, the new model stands 34cm tall, 33.5cm wide and just 22.4cm deep, complete with the wall-mountings provided as standard.

The speakers have cabinets made from a sandwich of various woods, and use a 24mm ring-radiator tweeter and a 15cm wood-fibre-cone mid/bass unit. The company says they're ideal for use in both two-channel and multichannel systems, and would be perfect as the rear speakers in a Cremona-based surround system.

The speakers also come with the company's trademark 'string' grilles, and are designed to work as well on shelves as they do wall-mounted.

They can handle up to 140W, and have 89dB/W/m sensitivity and 4ohm impedance.

Sonus Faber speakers are distributed in the UK by Absolute Sounds.
