Struggling to audition Roksan Caspian, Musical Fidelity M3, Creek Destiny and Naim Nait XS - any suggestions?
As I posted recently, am thinking of changing my present amp arrangement (Roksan Liii power + Creek passive pre) and would like to hear some/all of the integrated mentioned in the title.
Trouble is, this is proving easier said than done. In my mind, I've got this ideal hi fi experience of contacting a couple of hi fi dealers with my list of amps and them replying with something like "Oh, no prob; we stock 3 of those. You can borrow them for a weekend and then decide.Enjoy!"
Reality is not quite like this. We live within an hour's drive of Manchester and Sheffield. So far, I've emailed two or three dealers within an easy drive and can't say I'm anywhere near my auditioning nirvana as stated above. None appear to offer home demos (insurance problems !?!) and even comparing more than one off my list in a demo room at a shop is proving difficult.
Anyone had similar problems and if so, how did you eventually sort it? Don't fancy spending £1k to £2k without actual comparison. I know reviews can be useful but often two reviewers can disagree. I'm surprised at the number of online outlets / shops who are willing and able to get kit to your door on purchase but can't even arrange an in-stoor demo let alone home audition.
Interestingly, only 2 years ago, before purchasing new speakers, was able to bring a set home and listen no prob. What's happening now?
