CEATEC NEWS: OLED screens go bigger, thinner and more portable

Sony 27in OLED prototype

The 27in version sat alongside a whole range of derivatives on the theme of its original OLED TV, the XEL-1. This 11in TV, just 3mm thick at its thinnest point, is already on sale in Japan and the States, but Sony is clearly thinking beyond the current version, and working on exploiting the tehcnology further.

Prototypes on show here include:

- A wireless model, with or without an embedded battery

- A version with a folding support arm and improved speaker stand

- A 3mm thick 11inch OLED panel assembly

- And an ultra-thin 11in OLED display just 0.9mm thick, which can be curved and rolled to fit different surfaces.
