TEAC unveils Reference 600 hi-fi system with wi-fi and DAB

TEAC Reference 600

The AG-H600DNT stereo receiver (£700) is styled to match the PD-H600 CD player (£400), both of which are finished in black aluminium with a blue dot-matrix display. If both components are bought together as a system you'll pay £1000, saving £100.

Development of the Reference 600 series was undertaken by TEAC's Esoteric team, which normally works on the company's high-end components.

Audiophile-grade components are used throughout and all-new circuits have been designed to simplify the audio signal path, so minimising signal degradation.

The amplifier section has discrete dual-mono topology and uses a high-quality transformer.

Inside, the internet radio uses a Frontier Silicon Venice 6 module and there's built-in wi-fi as well as an Ethernet connection, giving access to more than 10,000 web stations around the world.

An optional iPod dock, the £30 DS20, supports the Apple iPhone and iPods, and a front-mounted USB port enables easy connection of other digital devices.

The CD player can handle CD, CD-R/-RW, MP3 and WMA discs, and uses a 24-bit/192kHz Delta-sigma digital-to-analogue converter.

Analogue audio outputs and a coaxial digital output are fitted as standard. Each unit measures 29.5 x 9 x 32cm.
