Marantz introduces its £700 SR6003 AV receiver and matching Blu-ray player
Marantz launches its £700 SR6003 multichannel receiver and reveals preliminary details of its forthcoming BD7003 Blu-ray player

The BD7003 uses a 12-bit/297MHz DAC and can decode the HD audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, alongside the lossless 7.1 PCM signal converted from the original HD audio.
It will also upscale DVDs to 1080p, and the SD card slot enables easy viewing of other digital media.
However, the player is Profile 1.0 as standard, not 2.0, so it can't handle BD Live content.
The matching SR6003 receiver is clad in the company's latest 'M1' chassis, delivers 100W across seven channels and is equipped with Audyssey's Multi EQ Auto set-up and a 256-colur GUI (Graphical User Interface).
Matching AV receiver handles HD audio
The SR6003 has a 10-bit, i-Chips Technology IP00C773 video processor which upscales video via HDMI to 1080p. And on the audio side of things, the unit can process Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HS Master Audio via HDMI.
For digital music fans there's the sound-boosting M-DAX system, and the USB input recognises iTunes tag information and enables control of AAC, MP3, WAV and WMA audio files from the Marantz remote control.
Talking of which, the remote is a backlit, learning model with LCD display, the ability to learn up to 120 codes from other devices and it's macro programmable.
