Belkin is launching an in-car FM transmitter for the iPhone and iPod Touch, enabling songs stored on the current 'must have' Apple devices to be played through your car stereo.
And the company is getting round one of the problems of such systems: how to find the right tuning frequency.
The new Belkin TuneCast FM and TuneDock FM (left) use ClearScan technology, which seeks out available frequencies on which they can transmit, presumably by avoiding those sectors of the FM band already taken by local stations. They then display the chosen frequency, so the car radio can be tuned in.
The TuneCast is a simple cable system with connectors for the iPhone and iPods, while the TuneDock also provides a mount for the phone/player, with multiple cradles and a flexible neck for positioning.
Both units also have line-out sockets for use with car stereos with line-in connections or cassette adaptors.
