Project Debut 111 SB

Hi.I have the above turmtable the model with the speedbox built in.I was listening to music and as I inceeased the volume there was an annoying buzzing sound which could be heard playing a disc or without.I have checked that the earth cable was securely fixed and it was .Could anyone please explain what the cause of this buzzing might be.Thanks

Try removing the earth cable see if that makes any difference.

Hi.Removed earth cable but it doesn`t make any difference.I also thught it might be the speakers I put headphones on and it is still the same it could possibly be something to do with the built in phono unit because with this model you connect it to any other input except the amps  phono input.I have a Thorens turntable and that does not suffer from the buzzing as it is connected straight into the amps phono socket

It could be a loose wire in the cartridge.  Does it increase (or decrease) if you tap the headshell lightly?

Is so, then I'd look at replacing the cartridge.  If not, then a visit to your friendly HiFi dealer may be in order.
