4K compatibility?

CES 2013 show cased some nice 4K or Ultra HD TVs, which got me thinking.
Many Av amplifiers/receivers and 4K projectors state they can receive or pass through 3840x2160 signals at 24/25/30hz and 4096x2160 at 24Hz only.
Does this mean that they wouldn't be compatible with 50/60hz signals at 4K res?
