Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 and Cambridge AM10 Amp

Apologies for such a novice question, but does anyone have any opinions on the combination of a Cambridge Audio AM10 amp and Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers? I'm new to this, and want to replace by desktop speakers with something better and more substantial. I don't really have any CDs, so it would be for playing off my computer and a Vestax Typhoon DJ controller thingy.. Does it make sense to spend a similar amount on an amp and speakers? And is it worth getting a seperate DAC? It's for a small-ish room, by the way.
