Put on your dancing shoes and do a merry jig - the three-day weekend is upon us! The good news is that if the weather doesn't hold out, and if you've exhausted the possibilities of Grand Theft Auto IV (surely not), there's an absolute boat-load of other HD content to get you through the weekend and next week, writes Tom Parsons.
Please remember to write a comment below to let everyone know if I've missed something out, and enjoy the three days off.
Friday 2nd May
Not a lot in the way of movies on TV tonight, but the rather excellent Dirty Sexy Money (Channel 4 HD, 9.00pm) continues.
Saturday 3rd May
What a full day of HD programing today is! In terms of football you have Manchester United v. West Ham (Sky Sports HD1, 12.00pm), and if you prefer your balls a bit more misshapen, the Millennium Magic rugby league fest includes Castleford Tigers v. Wakefield Wildcats (Sky Sports HD2, 5.00pm), and Bradford Bulls v. Leeds Rhinos (Sky Sports HD2, 7.00pm).
We're not short of movies today either. The fantastically schlocky Slither (Sky Screen 2HD, 5.05pm) kicks off an evening that also includes Blades of Glory (Sky Premiere HD, 8.00pm), and the beautifully-shot 3:10 to Yuma (Sky Premiere HD, 9.40pm).
Sunday 4th May
Another big day for sports, with Arsenal v. Everton (Sky Sports HD1, 1.00pm) and Liverpool v. Manchester City (Sky Sports HD1, 3.30pm) representing the football, and Hull v. Hull KR (Sky Sports HD3, 4.25pm) and St. Helens v. Wigan Warriors (Sky Sports HD3, 6.30pm) representing the rugby league. According to What Hi-Fi? staff writer and rugby league fan, Andy Madden, this last game is the one to watch, but then I think he's a Wigan fan...
If the excitement over the upcoming release of the new Indiana Jones movie is becoming too much to handle, how about watching Raiders of the Lost Ark (BBC HD, 8.05pm) to pass the time? If that doesn't take your fancy, there are a number of other modern classics on offer, from The Full Monty (Channel 4 HD, 9.05pm) and Desperado (Channel 4 HD, 10.45pm), to Goodfellas (Sky One HD, 10.00pm) and Full Metal Jacket (Sky Screen 1 HD, 11.30pm).
Tonight also sees new channel FX HD launch a couple of new series in HD. Both Brotherhood (FX HD, 10.45pm) and Sleeper Cell (FX HD, 11.45pm) have received regular praise since they launched in the States, and crucially, neither has been cancelled before even hitting the UK!
Monday 5th May
The weekend of football continues with Newcastle v. Chelsea (Sky Sports HD1, 3.30pm) being a crucial game for the Blues.
Movie wise you have the classic Escape to Victory (Channel 4 HD, 12.10pm), and two of my personal favourites - The Crow (Sky Screen 1HD, 11.40pm), and Evil Dead II (Sky Screen 2HD, 1.30am).
Tuesday 6th May
It's the usual, cracking TV tonight in the guise of Battlestar Galactica (Sky One HD, 9.00pm) and the ever-popular Mad Men (BBC HD, 11.20pm).
Wednesday 7th May
Just a couple of films worth mentioning tonight, as comedy favourite There's Something About Mary (Sky Screen 1HD, 8.00pm) competes for your attention with The Last King of Scotland (Sky Screen 2HD, 9.00pm).
Thursday 8th May
The third episode of the new series of Heroes (BBC HD, 9.00pm), is joined by one of my favourite episodes of My Name is Earl (Channel 4 HD, 10.00pm). It's called Our Other Cops is On, and it's all about the cast of trailer-trash characters' appearing in reality TV show, Cops. Needless to say, it's silly and very, very funny.
