Ixos Xen HXA-716 review

The Xen reveals plenty of detail, but it lacks the enthusiasm of the very best cables Tested at £80.00

Our Verdict

The Xen digs up much detail, but lacks the enthusiasm of the very best cables

For

  • Digs deep for detail

Against

  • Rather mundane delivery affects timing and dynamics

The Xen uses Ixos's Gamma Geometry construction. Never heard of it? Ixos claims that it helps to reveal more low-level detail and produce greater dynamics.

Well, the cable certainly does a good job of unearthing detail. We're more concerned with the cable's rather pedestrian delivery. While the top cables express their desire to take the music and run with it, the Ixos plods along, lacking enthusiasm. Timing and dynamics suffer as a result.
