Audio Obstacle Course

I've got this album entitled Audio Obstacle Course - era 111. It was produced by Shure in 1973 and is a 'Trackability Test Record for Stereo Cartridges'. Side 1 has level, balancing, phasing tests / musical bells test / sibilance test / bass drum test. Side 2 has violin test and some specially recorded musical extracts. The back of the album cover has detailed instructions on how to use it. Looks like there's references to tracking weight adjustment.

My question is - Any of you guys ever used (or still use) something like this, and is it any good. Or is it more of a novelty item nowadays?

It is, by the way, in extremely good condition.
