The final round of the U.S. Open golf championship gets underway at 1:00p.m. BST today. Here's our guide on how to watch all the action from the fearsome Winged Foot course in Mamaroneck, New York. And, if you're really lucky, you'll be able to watch the 2020 U.S. Open live stream free!

Those lucky golf fans in the US can watch the 2020 U.S. Open for free on NBCSports, NBC Golf and the NBC video player Peacock TV. (Don't forget to use a VPN if you're a U.S. citizen stuck away from home.) In the UK you'll need a Sky Sports subscription or Now TV pass.

The toughest test in golf reaches its conclusion at Winged Foot in New York today. After another scarily difficult day on Saturday, just three players remain under par, with 21-year-old American Matthew Wolff, the leader at -5, looking to become the first debutant to win the U.S. Open Championship for 107 years.

The Saturday of any tournament is known as moving day, and there was a lot of it about. The only player who didn't seem to shift, however, was Bryson DeChambeau who started the day in second place, and remains there, two shots back on -3. Wolff and DeChambeau start their final round as the last pairing out at 6:30p.m. BST.

There are a number of top golfers all within reach of the leaders however - especially once the deceptive (and sometimes downright cruel) nature of the course is taken into account. So we can expect some fireworks and many an up and down before the victor lifts the trophy. Whoever it is, they will have deserved it.

Read on to make sure you know how to watch a U.S. Open live stream wherever you are.

Watch the 2020 U.S. Open golf from abroad using a VPN

Even if you have subscribed to the relevant services, you won't be able to use them when outside your own country. The service will know your location based on your IP address, and will automatically block your access.

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) helps you get around this obstacle. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, such that the servers and services you’re accessing aren’t aware of what you’re doing. All the information passing back and forth is entirely encrypted.

There are many VPN providers out there, with some more reliable and safe than others. As a rule, we’d suggest a paid-for service such as ExpressVPN or NordVPN.

ExpressVPN three months free with a year-long plan

ExpressVPN three months free with a year-long plan
You can get three months free when you sign up to a year-long plan, bringing VPN access to smart devices including the Amazon Fire TV Stick, laptops, TVs and both Android and iOS mobiles and tablets. Express also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Once you’ve made your choice, all you need to do is sign in to your VPN service through whichever device you’d like to use to watch the match. When prompted to select a server, you need to pick one which is based in the country whose content you’d like to access. Then navigate to the relevant video streaming app or website and you’re in.
